Chenchu Lakshmi Tribal Medical Camps
Date: 04 January 2026
District: SPSR Nellore
Mandals: Kodavaluru, Vidavaluru & Alluru
Ekalavya Foundation, in collaboration with the Association for the Rural Development (ARD) and the District Medical & Health Department, successfully organised 11 Chenchu Lakshmi Tribal Medical Camps on 04 January 2026. The programme was supported by VPR Foundation, Swarna Bharat Trust, National Medico Organisation (NMO), and BMR Charitable Trust.
The camps covered 60 Yanadi tribal habitations across three mandals. Over 3,000 tribal beneficiaries attended the camps, and 1,734 persons received direct medical examination and treatment.
Medical services included general health check-ups, blood pressure, blood sugar tests, ECG, haemoglobin tests, eye and dental check-ups, skin and joint disorder screening, womenβs health services, paediatric care, and specialist consultations.
A team of government and private doctors, specialist physicians, junior doctors, medicos, ANMs, and ASHA workers participated. Around 550 medical and support staff worked across all centres.
The camps were inaugurated at Iskapalli PHC, Alluru Mandal, by Dr. Sujatha, District Medical & Health Officer, SPSR Nellore District. Medical camps at the remaining centres were conducted simultaneously.
Transport, food, and medicine arrangements were supported by Swarna Bharat Trust, VPR Foundation, BMR Charitable Trust, and the District Medical & Health Department. Government mobile medical vehicles were also deployed.
Despite existing fears and misconceptions about hospital treatment among Yanadi tribals, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation, marking it as a major success.
Ekalavya Foundation and ARD plan to continue health activities in 80 tribal habitations up to June 2026, focusing on regular health check-ups, womenβs health, adolescent awareness, nutrition, chronic diseases, hygiene, and Ayushman Bharat card facilitation.
